To kickstart our blog again, Sam and I have decided to hold a ‘Halloween Challenge’ to raise money towards Mum’s (Roberta’s) Marathon for Muscular Dystrophy UK - the condition from which Sam suffers.
What is Muscular Dystrophy?
Muscular Dystrophy is the umbrella term for a group of genetic conditions that affect the muscles in the body. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; the sub-type of which Sam has, causes multiple systemic problems including heart/lung complications, loss of mobility, chronic pain and fatigue just to name a few. It is both life-shortening and life-threatening, and affects every aspect of Sam’s life.
What does the Carving Competition entail?
The Carving Competition is exactly what it says! We are holding a challenge for the best carved pumpkin this Halloween. All you have to do is click here to make a donation (as much or as little as you wish!), email us a photo of your pumpkin carving attempt(s) to samkatie.blog@gmail.com by the morning of Halloween (next Sunday, 31st October), and after a judging process, the best pumpkin carver will receive a mystery hamper!
How will the competition be judged?
After the photo deadline, all photos received will be displayed ANONYMOUSLY for people to vote on. The person with the most votes, combined with an ultimate vote from both myself and Sam(!), will determine who the winner is.
All money raised will go towards the charity ‘Muscular Dystrophy UK’, so if you’d like to donate but Pumpkins aren’t your thing, you can of course donate regardless via the same link!
Thank you to everyone who gets involved and donates towards this worthy cause..it’s much appreciated, not only by us, but by Mum too, as every penny brings her closer to reaching her fundraising goal which in turn will benefit the charity massively in finding new treatments for this horrible condition!
